B&C Speakers - DE1080TN 8 Ohm Driver

The B&C Speakers DE1080TN 8 Ohm has been designed to meet the demands of high-end systems. It is aimed at loudspeaker suppliers and manufacturers who need a compression driver capable of keeping up with sustained sound levels while guaranteeing impeccable precision at the top end of the spectrum. With its 109dB sensitivity, it maximises output without putting excessive strain on the amplifiers.

This model features a 100 mm aluminium voice coil, combined with a completely redesigned titanium diaphragm. The new geometry of the dome and suspension, combined with a falling edge winding, improves control of mechanical deformations. The result is a smoother high-frequency response, reduced distortion above 10 kHz, and improved fidelity on vocals, cymbals or acoustic instruments.

The lightweight, powerful neodymium magnet motor generates a magnetic flux of 1.95 T, guaranteeing excellent transient response and optimum magnetic control. The copper demodulation cap reduces eddy currents, contributing to improved linearity across the entire bandwidth, from 500 Hz to 20 kHz. A good choice for three-way systems or line-source configurations.

With 140 W AES (and 280 W programme), this motor can handle a heavy workload without loss of performance. It operates ideally with 1 kHz filtering, allowing seamless integration into a wide variety of acoustic designs, even on wide horns with constant directivity.

Mounted on a compact body measuring 154 mm in diameter and just 60 mm deep, it fits easily into enclosures where internal volume is at a premium. The standard 4-point M6 mounting system over 102 mm enables it to be fitted quickly and securely to the majority of pro horns on the market.

In real-life situations, the DE1080TN delivers brilliant but never aggressive sound reproduction, even at very high levels. It's a strategic choice for high-end front-of-house systems, broadcast clusters or premium stage monitors, where precision and power handling must coexist.
