The DH450 16 Ohm compression driver is part of the HLX series developed by B&C Speakers, a technological approach that radically overhauls the traditional design of compression drivers.
At the heart of this concept is a patented phase plug with helical geometry, whose twisted central channel enables the acoustic lengths to be precisely aligned with those of the peripheral channels. This architecture promotes more coherent phasing of the signal as soon as it leaves the diaphragm, while maintaining an extremely compact size.
This HLX design increases the effective surface area of the diaphragm without increasing the diameter of the motor, while optimising the use of magnetic flux. The result is a lightweight, space-saving and cost-effective motor capable of operating at a low cut-off frequency of around 1 kHz, making it easy to connect to midrange or low-midrange drivers.
This feature is particularly useful in compact two-way systems or loudspeakers with controlled directivity.
The HT polymer diaphragm plays a central role in the DH450's behaviour, combining thermal stability, lightness and mechanical strength to significantly reduce distortion, especially intermodulation, while maintaining accurate, clear reproduction across the entire useful spectrum.
The 44 mm aluminium voice coil contributes to the motor's overall efficiency and high output, while keeping the moving mass down.
