Presentation
The Death Metal legend
When it was released in 1983, the HM-2 was one of the first 'amp in a box' pedals, using an innovative BOSS circuit to reproduce the sound of the 1980s British stack amps beloved by musicians in the burgeoning heavy metal scene. Towards the end of its production period, many Swedish Death Metal bands adopted the HM-2 to generate their primary guitar sound. This highly aggressive sound, centred on the mid-range frequencies, became highly sought-after by a new generation of musicians. The pedal's huge influence and popularity led to many requests for BOSS to resurrect it. So we're proud to present the HM-2W to all those dedicated fans around the world.
Standard mode: the original HM-2 sound
When the HM-2W is in Standard mode, the sound and response of the original HM-2 is reproduced with complete authenticity. We've also been able to add a few modern enhancements without affecting the sound, in particular reducing mass noise and increasing the maximum level by 3dB. And thanks to the integrated Waza Craft premium buffer, the sound in Bypass mode is greatly improved. Pushing all the buttons all the way down gives you that Swedish Death Metal sound, but you can also have a wide range of sounds for other styles, thanks to sensitive distortion and coloured controllers.
Even more aggressive in Custom mode
The HM-2W's Custom mode offers similar sonic characteristics to the Standard mode, but with a bit more of everything. The overdrive stage provides a little more gain and more fundamental guitar sound for more attack and edge. The bass and treble characteristics have also been adjusted for greater fullness and definition.

The return of orange and black
As well as the original HM-2 sound, we've worked hard to reproduce the famous orange and black look of the pedal, right down to the position and size of the lettering on the casing. Every Waza Craft pedal has a mode switch that provides more tonal options, and it's been moved to the top of the HM-2W to preserve the original layout of the HM-2 controllers.
Waza Craft: The art of big sound
BOSS engineers have always been dedicated to the pursuit of the best guitar sounds, using everything from old-school analogue circuitry to the most advanced DSPs. This enthusiasm is evident in the Waza Craft range, which delivers exceptional tone and touch response from carefully selected and assembled analogue components with meticulous attention to detail. In Japanese, 'Waza' means both art and craftsmanship, and these special edition pedals are perfect representations of this. They embody the very best of BOSS design and craftsmanship.
