The Tribute is a fully analogue overdrive circuit that combines an extremely expressive, high-amplitude saturation engine with powerful and flexible frequency control. Basically, the Tribute pays homage to one of Catalinbread's earliest circuits, the VariOboost, a circuit with parametric single-band overdrive EQ, rather than Tone control, to offer greater flexibility.

To play rhythms, choose a low-midrange frequency
and increase it for your big chords.
For a solo, go higher to add brilliance to your sound.
Want to pretend you've got a cocked wah effect to play 'Money For Nothing'? Want to simulate Peter Green-style out-of-phase pickups? Want your single pickups to sound like humbuckers? And vice versa?
The Tribute can do all that and more.
The heart of the Tribute is a buffer followed by a saturation circuit managed by a dual potentiometer.
In other words, the Drive affects 2 parameters at the same time: a clean bend and a saturation gain.
With the Drive at the bottom, you have your original sound from the buffer with a slight high-pitched filter.
With the Drive up, you have all the gain without the original sound. Anywhere in between gives you a carefully balanced clean-drive combo that lets your sound breathe at all positions.
