The DiMarzio DP289FSGBK UtoPIA Bridge is the result of extensive work with Steve Vai to enhance his signature Ibanez PIA guitar. This bridge pickup exudes style, with its black cover featuring a baroque motif and laser-cut on a gold base.
But the real treasure is the sound. Built on the basis of the famous Evolution Bridge, this model takes the concept a step further, with muscular lows and strong highs that give real body to the sound. The Evolution model, developed for Steve Vai, is a high-output ceramic humbucker designed for maximum impact and power, delivering a tight, aggressive sound rich in harmonics. Here, the midrange is softened for a more fluid, less aggressive, but still punchy sound.
The unit has a high output for a clean attack. And even in split mode with a central UtoPIA mic, it retains clarity and warmth.
