The EMG JH "HET" Set Brushed Gold pickups combine precision, attack and radio silence. Basically, Hetfield wanted more grit and less buzz, and EMG followed him to the letter.
The neck pickup is based on a pure ceramic magnet. The result is biting cleans, rich in harmonics. The bridge pickup, on the other hand, delivers a cutting edge. There's no sound soup, even under distortion, and the frequencies never drool. Everything remains well defined, even with a wall of gain. The kit contains the 2 microphones, all the connectors and screws. You don't need a soldering station. Even the potentiometers (push/pull included) come wired.
Specs: 3 V string play, 4.5 V strumming. Well thought-out resonance frequencies, 1500-hour battery life. And no grounding required. A long-stem Switchcraft jack is recommended if your cavity is deep. But otherwise, everything just clips in and plays. This is a real signature set, designed to last.
