Geezer Butler didn't sign this set just to look good on a piece of plastic, he asked EMG to rediscover that attack, that grain that wrung the necks of the amps on the first Sabbaths; the result is there, in this black GZR PJ box. P & PJ configuration with Alnico V magnets on both sides: the Precision pickup attacks with that characteristic roundness, that fatness that makes the wood vibrate. The Jazz, on the other hand, provides just the right amount of bite without ever becoming too bitter.

A small revolution: solderless cabling. You take out the old harness, clip on the new 2 250k volume potentiometers, the 250k tone potentiometer and the mono output jack, and in twenty minutes your bass breathes new air. The 2 microphone cables and the 2 connection cables follow the same path without the need for a soldering iron. The bridge ground connector and its earth wire complete the picture.

Sonically, it's a slap in the face. The deep, tight bass holds its own even when out of tune, without the sludge that drowns out the attacks. The characteristic punch and grit flow through the mix without strain. And the noise is reduced thanks to the Jazz split-coils: no more background murmur that ruins studio silences.
