EMG's SLV Ivory pickup doesn't follow any rules. EMG designed it for Steve Lukather, and you can feel it from the very first note. This active single pickup rises in tension faster than expected, with a nervous character and no extraneous noise. It shares its DNA with the SAV, but the tighter winding totally alters the response: denser, more electric and more intense.
The Alnico 5 flat magnets, carefully wedged under a rigid cap, ensure a precise magnetic field. The result: clean attacks and sharp dynamics, without the slightest hiss. With a resonance frequency set at 3.33 kHz, it covers brilliant harmonics without ever saturating the space.
Pole pieces close to the strings boost the output, up to 3 V in sustained play. And thanks to EMG's solderless cabling, every component finds its place without fuss. 25k volume and tone, stereo jack, appropriate cables, 9V battery: everything fits together effortlessly.
