With the nEar i8, ESI Audiotechnik is offering the most generous model in the nEar i series, designed for environments where an 8-inch monitor is at home. This loudspeaker is aimed at users who want to work with a solid base in the lower end of the spectrum, without immediately resorting to a subwoofer, while retaining a close-in listening experience that can be used for mixing and production.

The design is based on an active two-way architecture, combining DSP processing and Class D amplification. The 8-inch woofer uses a paper fibre cone selected for its rigidity and stability, while the 1-inch silk dome tweeter ensures precise, controlled high-frequency reproduction. This configuration produces a wider, more physical bass, while maintaining a clear reading of the lower midrange, a critical zone for vocals and many instruments.

Integrated DSP processing plays a key role in the overall balance of the loudspeaker. It maintains a smooth, coherent response, while offering simple adjustments to adapt the behaviour of the nEar i8 to the acoustics of the room. The bass and treble equalisation controls, which can be accessed in stages, make it easy to adjust the speaker to suit the placement or furnishings of the room. The sound character selector lets you switch between Mix & Listen mode, which is more comfortable over time, and a more analytical Reference mode for critical work phases.

The bass reflex load with front port allows for more flexible installation, even in rooms with limited headroom. Balanced XLR and unbalanced TRS inputs ensure extensive compatibility with audio interfaces and monitoring controllers. A multicolour LED indicator shows operating status, standby mode and signal overload.
