ESI Audiotechnik - unik 05+

The ESI Audiotechnik uniK 05+ is the result of extensive development work carried out in Germany, aimed at pushing back the limits of what can be expected from a compact monitoring loudspeaker. Designed for production, mixing and post-production studios, it stands out for its balanced, detailed and controlled sound reproduction, suitable for demanding close-up listening.

This loudspeaker is based on a bi-amplified active architecture, with MOS-FET amplification dedicated to bass and treble. This technical choice delivers rapid response, excellent dynamic control and fluid reproduction, while retaining an analogue approach inspired by vintage treatments thanks to a gyrator LC-type filter topology. The result is a natural, non-aggressive listening experience that reduces auditory fatigue during long work sessions.

The bass register is handled by a 5-inch driver with a composite Kevlar membrane, offering high rigidity and very controlled piston behaviour. This design ensures accurate reproduction of the lower end of the spectrum, with surprisingly deep extension for such a compact size. High frequencies are reproduced by a magnetostatic tweeter with very low moving mass, guaranteeing excellent resolution, rapid transient response and extension to very high frequencies.

The uniK 05+ also stands out for its advanced adjustment options. A central sound character control allows the speaker's overall signature to be adjusted, from a soft reproduction to a brighter response, to suit both the room's acoustics and the user's preferences. Dedicated bass and treble controls complete this fine-tuning. Unlike simple volume controls, the input level is managed by a precision gain attenuator, ensuring perfect coherence between the two speakers in a stereo system.
