Compressor / Gate

Heritage Audio's Successor Stereo Bus Compressor revolutionizes the compression process with its classic British diode bridge technology. Unlike traditional VCA compressors, the Successor uses discrete Class A technology with large transformers and diode bridge-based gain reduction, delivering authentic vintage tone. Delivering second-order harmonic distortion and true vintage timbre, Heritage Audio's Successor compressor redefines bus compression possibilities for audio professionals, ensuring balanced, dynamic mixes with exceptional clarity.

Launched in 2019, the Successor offers warm, colorful and characterful compression, ideal for creative engineers and musicians.

Featuring Carnhill transformers, the Successor delivers guaranteed vintage sound reproduction, with balanced input and output for added vintage characteristic and ambiance.
Ultra-fast Attack and Release enable epic drum bus compression sounds, while sophisticated sidechain filters provide unparalleled tuning flexibility.

With its step controls, the Successor ensures easy recall of settings, while the integrated mix control allows parallel compression without external equipment.
Additionally, the sidechain's SEND and RETURN connections allow processing to be controlled from external signals. Finally, the Successor's compact, rack-mountable design makes it an essential tool for modern studios, where it shines on mixes and instrument busses.

Jumbled together, the Successor in a few words:

- True stereo operation on single controls with matched gain cells for extremely accurate left/right tracking and virtually no lag between channels.
- Compression tracking works in Oxford mode (the strongest signal takes control of compression rather than summing the left and right channels).
- Carnhill-based transformer-coupled balanced and floating inputs and outputs to add character and vintage ambiance.
- '73-style Class A output stages bring the desired '73 sound to your mix or drum bus.
- Diode bridge based compression excels at bringing second order harmonic distortion characteristics and true vintage sound while eliminating unpleasant odd harmonic content.
- Ultra-fast attack and release time options impossible to find in vintage designs allow for much more flexible settings, including FET-like sounds and volume maximization without transient artifacts.
- Complex side-chain filtering options work with already common high-pass filters, introducing mid-band peak-type filters and high-frequency compression, enabling bus correction not previously possible.
- Side chain send and return connections allow external side chain signals to control processing.
- Mix control provides built-in parallel compression without the need for external hardware. The Blend ON/OFF button allows instant comparison between WET and DRY signals.
- Notched controls for easy recall of settings.
