Jet Guitars - JS 1000 Vulcano

The Jet Guitars JS-1000 Vulcano is part of the Vulcano series, and the name is no empty metaphor. The solid flamed maple top, finished in glossy Flamed Transparent Red, lets the light pass through like embers — the wood’s flames and the transparent red create a visual texture that shifts with every angle. The mahogany body acts as a thermal base: warm bass, thick mids, a tonal warmth reminiscent of Gibsons of yesteryear.

At the heart of the Vulcano is the hand-wound Stygian Alnico HH set, mounted directly into the wood without an intermediate plate. This direct-mounting choice shortens the signal path — the Alnico magnets pick up the signal at the source, without damping. The HH configuration with a 5-way selector switch offers five distinct tones, ranging from the punch of the series-wound humbucker to the brighter nuances of the centre split position, with 1 volume and 1 tone control to shape the sound in real time.

The Modern C-profile roasted Canadian maple neck is a safe bet for those who play fast and for long periods: roasted wood resists humidity fluctuations better than raw maple, and the roasted maple fingerboard with a 241.3 mm (9.5") radius handles high-flying bends without losing intonation. The 22 Medium Jumbo frets on a 647.7 mm (25.5") scale length provide balanced string tension, neither too loose nor too tight.

The custom vibrato invites controlled dives and sweeps, and the bone nut ensures a quick return to tuning — a task aided by the black self-locking tuners, which complement the all-black hardware that contrasts sharply with the body’s incandescent red. The double-action truss rod ensures precise long-term adjustment. The Vulcano is made for stages where you don’t play to go unnoticed.
