The matt Charcoal finish reinforces this impression of an instrument that gets straight to the point. Underneath, the two custom YHL PB-style pickups in a passive configuration reproduce the attack with the roundness typical of the P-Bass design: the fundamental tone comes through clearly, the harmonics stay in their place, with no electronic colouration between the strings and the cable.
The Modern C-profile neck, crafted from roasted Canadian maple, retains its geometry over time — the heat treatment makes the wood less sensitive to changes in humidity than other necks in this price range. The rosewood fingerboard with a 12-inch radius offers a slightly porous surface under the fingers, which slows down gliding across the 20 frets just enough to ensure fingering is deliberate rather than accidental. The 45 mm polymer composite nut provides generous spacing at the headstock, complemented by vintage-style chrome tuners whose low gear ratio allows tuning to within a semitone. The 2-point bridge with 5 saddles completes the setup by maintaining stable intonation across the entire 34-inch scale.
A red tortoiseshell pickguard stands out against the Charcoal finish — a reminder that this bass embraces its visual heritage as much as its sonic one.
