Sonic Blue on roasted poplar — the JET JT-300 BL R makes its mark with this colour, which is both cool and luminous, but it is beneath the lacquer that everything comes together. The torrefaction process stabilises the wood deep down: less moisture absorption, a slightly reduced mass, and a drier response that enhances the attack of transients. The sound comes through clearly, with little muddiness in the lower midrange.
The Modern C-profile neck, crafted from torrefied Canadian maple, fits comfortably in the palm without being overly thick — the 647.7 mm scale length places the frets at a spacing that encourages stretching without tiring the wrist over time. The bone nut, cut to 41.9 mm, transmits vibrations to the neck without filtering them; the double-action truss rod allows for adjustment in both directions depending on the season. The chrome tuners complete a cohesive set-up, with a fixed Wilkinson bridge for stable tuning.
The ceramic SS configuration — a single-coil pickup at the neck and a humbucker at the bridge, according to the manufacturer’s specifications — covers a wide spectrum: the ceramic pickups remain articulate at high volumes where alnico pickups would saturate. The 3-position selector switch, with 1 volume and 1 tone control, keeps things simple. A solid-body guitar designed for those who play standing up and loud.
