Electric Guitar Effects
Following on from the Muffuletta (released in 2015), the Bonsai uses a simple rotary selector to choose from 9 variations of the Tube Screamer, whether classic, vintage, rare or impossible to find. The creation of the Bonsai was a real piece of archaeological research, with JHS Pedals immersing itself in the history of this legendary circuit, examining dozens of versions, variations and replicas that have existed, to choose the 9 favourites of the brand's founder and replicate every nuance as faithfully as possible. The difficulty of such a project is to recreate the characteristics of components that have sometimes not been manufactured for decades.

Presentation
Please note that the Bonsai is not just a bunch of mods or simulations, but exact replicas of each of these 9 pedals in a single pedal:
- OD-1 - 1977 A brighter mode with a bit more gain that doesn't use the Tone control. This mode also inverts the signal like the original and has asymmetrical clipping. The OD-1 is great for boosting other overdrives or saturating amps.
- TS-808 - 1979 The classic low gain with its typical pronounced midrange.
- TS-9 - 1982 Almost identical to the TS-808 with a little more mid-bass.
- MSL (Metal Screamer), Power or L Series - 1985 Although Metal is in the name, this is not the type of metal we think of today. However, it has more gain and bass.
- TS-10 - 1986 Made famous by John Mayer, this model is a slight improvement on the TS9 of the 80s. Bluesy, biting, with less gain and bass.
- Exar OD-1 1989 The Exar is a TS-style pedal made in Poland with different characteristics, providing more gain and transparency.
- TS-7 (+mode) - 1999 This version's hot mode gives the most gain the Bonsai can offer, with more bass and saturation.
- Keeley Mod Plus - 2002 Robert Keeley's classic 'mod' gives a smoother midrange and treble than the original, as well as better bass response.
- JHS Strong Mod - 2008 The brand's 'mod' released in 2008, it is clearer and more powerful, with more treble and bass.
When you choose a mode on the Bonsai, you're actually activating components specific to each of these modes, and you're playing on the pedal that John has chosen, with its specific features, its little flaws even, and everything that makes it unique and different from the others available.
