The Lindell Audio 7X-500VIN is a 500 Series FET compressor that takes the spirit and behaviour of vintage 1176 compressors and adds modern features designed for everyday studio use. Its discrete circuit is based on Vintage OPA1731 amplifiers and a transformer-balanced output, offering a dense, nervous sound signature rich in harmonics.

The control principle is based on fixed-position switches for attack, release and ratio. This deliberately simplified approach allows you to concentrate on listening rather than on excessively fine-tuning, while guaranteeing fast, consistent results. The attack and release times cover a wide range, allowing both transparent compression and very strong transient processing.

The 7X-500VIN incorporates a three-position switchable high-pass sidechain filter. This prevents low frequencies from triggering compression excessively, a valuable asset when processing snare drums, vocals or drum busses. The integrated dry/wet mix control allows parallel compression directly in the module, ideal for preserving the impact of transients while making the signal denser.
