Presentation
MARTINEZ Almeria Artist SR CE + Case is named after an Andalusian city where flamenco flourished amongst the streets and courtyards. Under the fingers, the body responds with a crisp, snappy attack, closer to a snap than a lingering note.
The solid spruce top withstands the strikes of the right hand and produces a crisp tone – a choice that suits rhythms with a sharp, snappy quality rather than sustained notes. The laminated agathis back and sides hold up well under the repeated percussive strikes of the golpe. The mahogany neck retains its straight line under the tension of the tightly strung strings – a crucial factor for high-positioned cejillas. Across the twenty-two frets, the ebony fingerboard allows the fingers to glide smoothly, a real asset for rapid ligados. The 50 mm nut narrows the spacing between the strings for barre chords that reach high up the neck.
Fitted with six strings and a cutaway that provides access to the upper frets, this 4/4-sized Flamenca leaves the workshop with a high-gloss finish in a natural colour. The 650 mm scale length maintains the standard spacing between the frets for barre chords, which are frequently used in flamenco. A gig bag is included to carry the instrument between lessons and performances.

Martinez draws its identity from a history dating back to 1978 in Germany. The brand entered the Chinese market in 2005 with the establishment of a facility in Guangzhou.
This move marked a significant milestone, with the appointment of Kenny Hill, a renowned American luthier, as technical adviser. Martinez thus combines its European origins with expertise developed in China. Its catalogue spans several ranges, from classical guitars to flamenco, electro-acoustic and stage models.
The Almeria range exemplifies this focus with instruments designed for the Spanish repertoire. The brand has an international catalogue and a presence in numerous specialist markets.
