Martinez - Lacote

MARTINEZ has taken the name ‘Lacote’ from René Lacôte, a 19th-century Parisian luthier who left his mark on French classical guitar-making, to name this full-size model. The 650 mm scale length is that of a concert guitar, a far cry from the smaller sizes designed for beginners.

The spruce top delivers a clarity that rises rapidly in the treble register; this wood has been chosen by classical luthiers for generations for its projection. The rosewood back and sides, combined with the rosewood bridge, add texture and depth to the mid-range, whilst the mahogany neck maintains its shape under the pressure of the strings. The ebony fingerboard completes the instrument with a hard, smooth surface, where the notes remain crisp even after years of playing.

An integrated truss rod keeps the neck straight in the face of climatic stresses, a detail that offers peace of mind over the long term. The 50 mm bone nut transmits the vibration of the Savarez strings without dampening it, and the gloss finish in a natural colour highlights the wood’s grain rather than concealing it.
