Martinez - Standard MC-58S Torres RN

A clear, woody tone emerges from the very first notes on the Martinez MC-58S Torres RN classical guitar. The solid spruce top produces a clear attack, whilst the rosewood back and sides lend greater depth to the tone. The Torres body shape draws on the proportions of classic Spanish guitar-making and gives the instrument a full, well-defined sound.

With a scale length of 605 mm (23.82 inches), this guitar brings the frets closer together and reduces the spacing under the left hand – a real advantage when playing chords that require a wide stretch. The 48 mm (1.89-inch) nut narrows the space between the strings and encourages a more compact fingering position. The rosewood fingerboard supports legato and glissando techniques with a hard, even surface. The mahogany neck flows naturally from the body to the headstock. The gloss finish allows the natural colour to reveal the wood’s grain.

The MC-58S Torres RN joins the Martinez Standard series with a design directly inspired by the Spanish tradition. Founded in Germany in 1978 and based in Guangzhou since 2005, the brand works with the American luthier Kenny Hill as a technical adviser and places great importance on the choice of woods. On this classical guitar, the 605 mm scale length shortens the distances between the frets and makes finger spacing less demanding. The design is therefore well-suited to both the classical repertoire and regular practice sessions, with a playing style that favours short movements along the neck.
