The Neumann KH 120 II is a studio monitoring loudspeaker that succeeds the KH 120 A model, launched in 2010. It is a reference monitor appreciated in many studios around the world for its linearity, low distortion, absence of coloration and adaptability to different acoustic environments. The KH 120 II offers enhanced performance thanks to a powerful DSP engine, allowing users to hear tracks with greater clarity and work more efficiently to create mixes that will translate optimally on all playback systems.
The sound of the KH 120 II is exceptionally linear, with a frequency response of 44 Hz to 21 kHz (±3 dB) and a linear phase response. This translates into clear, transparent midrange and accurate reproduction of impulses and reverberations. Thanks to DSP-controlled electronics, sophisticated crossovers avoid the phase distortion caused by analogue crossovers, setting new standards in tonal coherence. The KH 120 II is manufactured to extremely low tolerances of ±0.5 dB, guaranteeing a clear stereo image.
The KH 120 II is designed for near-field applications, with a recommended listening distance of 1 to 2 metres (3 to 6 feet), making it ideal for small studios, home studios, mixing and editing rooms, as well as for use as a surround speaker in multi-channel applications. Its exceptional linearity and portable size also make it an excellent choice for professional-quality on-site monitoring, such as for live recording, orchestras/choirs or broadcasting.
In addition to its sonic performance, the KH 120 II offers advanced features to optimise its use in different acoustic environments. Neumann's MMD™ waveguide ensures an ideal wide listening area and minimises reflections from the work surface. In addition, the KH 120 II's internal DSP enables room calibration through automatic monitor alignment with the MA 1 (sold separately), significantly improving sound quality even in acoustically treated rooms. Tonal compatibility with other studio monitors in the KH range enables use in mixed systems, particularly in immersive set-ups. The KH 120 II also offers flexible connectivity with its analogue and S/PDIF inputs.
