Neve - 8816 Summing Mixer

The 8816 is a versatile piece of studio equipment that offers the functionality of a large Neve® console, ideal for recording. It includes independent cue sends for all 16 channels, multiple connections and headphone controls, and an integrated talkback system, making it a complete recording package for small studios.

The 8816's enhanced summing features allow producers to concentrate on mixing. Each channel is equipped with Cut and Solo switches, as well as a dedicated rotary pan control offering precise panning to the extremes, with a -3dB centre point and S-Law curve.

With monitoring controls built into the 8816's Neve® console, there's no need for a separate monitor controller in your studio. The balanced or unbalanced speaker outputs can be connected to two pairs of studio speakers, giving you a choice of monitoring sources. In addition, a 3.5 mm mini-jack is available for external monitoring from an iPhone/MP3 player.

To complete the mixing function with the Marinair® transformer-equipped bus, the 8816 includes two stereo bus inserts. The second insert, called the IMR, has a mix function, which is ideal for parallel bus compression using your favourite analogue compressors. In addition, the 8816 is equipped with a powerful central processor that can be activated before the insert is sent, allowing separate processing of mono and stereo information by adding compression, equalisation or any other external processor. Neve's exclusive stereo width function also enhances the stereo image with a width potentiometer ranging from mono to hyper-wide stereo image, offering varied and captivating musical results.

The 8816 can be combined with the 8804 fader pack for convenient control of all 16 mix levels and stereo output, transforming the 8816 into a true Neve® console. If you need more than 16 channels, you can combine multiple 8816 units using the 2-track bus link function to create a larger mixing console to suit your studio.

To quickly recall your sessions, connect the 8816 to your PC/Mac via USB and use the interactive Neve® Recall software. Routing and switching are automated at the touch of a button, allowing the 8816's rotary knobs to be instantly set to the recorded values.

For stereo digital output, you can add an optional A/D conversion board. This card uses high-quality Neve® converters with switchable headroom settings to suit different digital systems. It offers outputs in AES 3 and DSD formats, with sample rates up to 192kHz and clock options via AES Sync or word clock BNC connections. In addition, the converter features an ADC insert, allowing external signals to benefit from Neve's high-quality A/D converters.
