Presentation
The Schoeps Colette range is particularly comprehensive, and can be adapted to suit all needs.
The appearance of the CMC 1 U amplifier, smaller in size than the famous CMC 6, but with equivalent (if not superior) electrical properties, has given rise to a new sub-category in the Colette range, incorporating all the capsule variants with the CMC 1U.
The stereo set referenced here consists of a pair of CMC 1 U with a pair of MK 41 supercardioid capsules.
The MK 41s offer excellent low- and mid-frequency focusing, comparable to that of a shotgun microphone.
The sound is natural thanks to a flat frequency response that remains uniform whatever the direction of pick-up. This is particularly important for indoor recording.
Preferred uses: recording dialogue for film sound, as a spot microphone in an orchestra, and on the opera stage.
