The Sony C-80 redefines proximity recording standards for demanding sound engineers. Incorporating the diaphragm of the legendary C-800G and a capsule inspired by the C-100, this microphone offers superior vocal presence thanks to an optimised frequency response around 13 kHz.
Its technical design is based on cutting-edge materials: a polyetherimide (PEI) backplate to reduce acoustic impedance and a 24-carat gold vapour-deposited diaphragm. This combination ensures high sensitivity and extremely low distortion.
For close miking, its dual diaphragm structure effectively reduces proximity effect, while the switchable low-pass filter eliminates unwanted resonances at the bottom of the spectrum. The result is a clear, powerful sound that stands out naturally in the mix without the need for complex post-production.
