With the OC-B6, Austrian Audio offers a radically different approach to bass drum miking. Capable of handling levels in excess of 170dB SPL, the OC-B6 captures the full spectrum of the kick drum, from the deepest bass to the most defined attack, without distortion or saturation. Unlike pre-tuned dynamic or electrostatic microphones, it doesn't force any sonic signature. The result remains neutral, giving the sound engineer total control when mixing, whether you're looking for a full vintage bass or a very defined modern attack.

The microphone maintains remarkable coherence whatever its position, inside the drum, at the vent or outside the bass drum. Its 220° rotatable head system facilitates fast, precise placement, even in tight configurations, in the studio or on stage. The integrated stand thread eliminates the need for an external clamp, making installation simpler, more reliable and perfectly suited to touring conditions.

At the heart of the OC-B6 is the CKR6-B capsule, a 1-inch electrostatic capsule specially developed for very high sound pressure levels. Based on Austrian Audio ceramic technology, it has been extensively redesigned, with an increased diaphragm-to-electrode distance and a lower resonance frequency, to achieve exceptional dynamic reserve while keeping bass response under control. The discrete electronics, combined with a subsonic filter precisely calibrated at 25 Hz, guarantee optimum management of low-frequency energy without any loss of musicality.
