Its reduced dimensions contribute to an exceptionally compact appearance, incorporating all the typical elements of a Neumann microphone. Its harmonious proportions and the bright ring below the grille ensure that the TLM 102* catches the eye at first glance.

In terms of sound, the TLM 102 is impressive. It incorporates a new large-diameter capsule with a cardioid pick-up pattern and a maximum sound pressure level of 144 dB, enabling it to record percussion, drums, guitar or bass amps and other very high-level sound sources. But even lower-level instruments will benefit from the TLM 102's very fast transient response. However, its preferred area of application remains vocals, both sung and spoken. A slight rise in the response curve above 6 kHz ensures excellent presence of the voice in the mix. Up to 6 kHz, the frequency response is very linear, resulting in minimal coloration and clearly defined bass. The capsule is mounted on an elastic suspension, eliminating the transmission of structure-borne noise. A pop screen integrated into the grille eliminates plosives when recording close-miking vocals.

Thanks to its price and wide range of applications, the TLM 102 is ideal for home studio recording and the project studio sector, as well as for broadcasting, especially where it is important not to impede the visibility of presenters.
