Supro - Keeley Custom 10

Robert Keeley and Supro have combined their approaches in a single unit: the Supro Keeley Custom 10 delivers 25 watts from two 6V6GTs in push-pull configuration, a tube choice that gives the saturation a warm, compact character, with a tone halfway between Chicago blues and mid-sized venue rock. These power tubes don’t inflate the bass — they make it denser. The Supro transformer, custom-wound for this circuit rather than taken from a generic catalogue, determines how transients pass through or are smoothed out depending on the volume: it is this that gives the amp its distinctive dynamic behaviour.
The 10-inch Celestion G10 Creamback works in the same vein: soft suspension, alnico magnet, and a smooth high-frequency response without any artificial brightness. The poplar cabinet, clad in Blue Rhino Hide Tolex with white piping, maintains the air volume to the nearest millimetre — 15.8 kg in 480 × 355 × 230 mm, a dense, compact unit. The Dog Bone vinyl handle absorbs the twists and turns of transport without gradually loosening.
The control section — with separate Volume, Treble, Bass and Master controls — leaves all tonal responsibility to the valves and the transducer. The built-in effects loop isolates time-based effects pedals from the gain chain, and the line-level Send output is designed for use with a mixing desk or recorder without a microphone in front of the cabinet. The two 4-ohm outputs and the 8-ohm output cover common external cabinet configurations. Manufactured in China to American specifications, this combo makes no secret of its origins — it justifies them through its performance.
