Tascam - Model 12

The Tascam Model 12 console is a real Swiss Army knife.
It will suit most possible uses:
Creation, broadcasting, multitrack recording with or without a computer, multimedia uses, podcasting, DAW control, USB and MIDI audio interface, wireless streaming, etc.

All of this in a compact package at a price that's affordable for everyone.

Create WAV files and play back up to 10 tracks simultaneously with the integrated SD card-based digital recorder. Activate the metronome with headphones when recording, play with punch-in/out (record in/out) and overdub (record while listening to existing tracks), import files from other consoles in the Model range, export tracks as WAV format audio files for direct import into your computer to continue editing or to flesh out and finalise your project.

The digital audio interface can be used at the same time as the integrated multitrack recorder. And being Class Compliant, Model 12 will connect to Apple iOS devices via an optional adapter.

In terms of DAW controller functionality, the Tascam Model 12 uses the HUI/MCU protocol. You'll be able to control faders, mutes, pans, solos, arm recording, start playback, start recording, stop recording, fast forward and rewind, and fine-tune navigation using the Jog wheel.

The click output and Tap Tempo function (for entering tempo on the fly) are also very practical: you can control and listen to the sound signal from a metronome to play 'in tune' and make it easier to record other tracks based on the same creation. You can also play live over recorded tracks (overdub).

MIDI functionality means you can use it with any source that supports this protocol. This can be used to trigger playback or recording to an external multitrack, or to synchronise other types of MIDI device with the Tascam Model 12.
