The Apollo e1x is a compact network preamplifier designed to add a mic/line input to a Dante system. When used with an Apollo x16D, it provides access to Universal Audio’s Unison preamps and their industry-standard emulations, such as Neve, API, Manley and SSL.

Presentation
The Universal Audio Apollo e1x allows a remote mic/line preamp to be integrated directly into a Dante audio network. Powered via Power over Ethernet (PoE), it offers a solution particularly well-suited to studio, PA and live performance installations where inputs need to be positioned as close as possible to the sound sources.
Its XLR/TRS combo input accepts both microphones and line-level sources, with automatic selection of the input type depending on the connector used. Gain is adjustable from 10 to 65 dB, whilst 48 V phantom power, the -20 dB pad, the low-cut filter and polarity reversal can be controlled remotely via UAD Console.
When used with an Apollo x16D, the Apollo e1x benefits from Unison integration, allowing you to utilise UAD preamp plug-ins that replicate the behaviour and character of famous analogue preamps. DSP processing is then handled by the Apollo x16D, offering a particularly attractive solution for placing the preamps at the stage, in the control room or in different rooms within a studio.
The Apollo e1x also operates standalone on a Dante network, without requiring an Apollo x16D. It can therefore be used to add an analogue input to various Dante systems, for example for measurement microphones, stage inputs or fixed installations.
Its compact design allows for a variety of installation configurations. It can be placed on a flat surface or mounted on a microphone stand using its 5/8" threaded mount. Several units can also be connected using the supplied coupler, with a maximum of 8 Apollo e1x units physically attached together to prevent overheating.
Analogue-to-network conversion is carried out at 24-bit resolution, with sampling rates ranging from 44.1 to 96 kHz. The unit also supports AES67 at 48 kHz, whilst the Dante network latency can be set to 1, 2 or 5 ms.
