Wampler - Ego Compressor

The Wampler Ego Compressor is based on the fundamentals of a guitar compressor, with the emphasis on controlling playing and preserving the character of the instrument. Designed by Brian Wampler, it allows you to influence dynamics without imposing a distinctive sound signature.

The principle remains that of a classic compressor, to reduce the gap between low and high levels. The pedal makes it possible to raise the most discreet notes while controlling the most pronounced attacks. The result depends directly on the settings applied, with a wide margin for adjustment.

The sustain potentiometer controls the intensity of the compression, while the volume control adjusts the output level. The blend control allows part of the original signal to be re-injected, preserving the natural attack while benefiting from the compression. This parallel compression approach offers finer adjustment of the rendering.

The Attack control adjusts how the compression reacts to transients, directly influencing the playing experience. The tone control adjusts the overall balance of the signal in relation to the rest of the chain.

The Ego Compressor can be used continuously to smooth out the playing or occasionally as an effect. Its standard size and top-mounted connections make it easy to integrate on a pedalboard.
