Wampler - Mini Ego Compressor

The Wampler Mini Ego Compressor is a continuation of the Ego Compressor, but in a more compact format. Designed by Brian Wampler, this pedal offers detailed compression management, with an approach based as much on the feel of the performance as on signal processing.

The role of a compressor is to reduce the gap between high and low levels. Here, this action can be fine-tuned using a number of controls. The sustain potentiometer controls the amount of compression, while the volume control adjusts the output level. The blend control allows the compressed signal to be mixed with the original signal, giving access to parallel compression directly from the pedal.

Two switches complete the settings. The attack switch lets you choose between a fast or more progressive response, influencing how the compression reacts to playing. The tone switch adjusts the overall response, with a brighter option to compensate for some of the loss of brightness caused by compression.

The Mini Ego Compressor can be used discreetly to smooth out the playing, or in a more pronounced way to achieve a distinctive effect. It fits easily into a pedalboard thanks to its small size and true bypass operation.
