Presentation
With the TAS1 C SandBurst, Yamaha has brought its TransAcoustic concept to a more compact, concert-quality format. This configuration is aimed at musicians looking for a responsive instrument, while retaining the possibilities offered by the on-board effects.
The principle remains identical to that of the entire series: an internal actuator transforms the guitar body into a true acoustic diffuser. The effects are not added via a loudspeaker, but are directly integrated into the vibration of the wood. As a result, reverb and chorus take on a more natural dimension, interacting directly with the playing and dynamics of the instrument.
Several types of reverb and chorus are accessible from the on-board controls, enabling the sound response to be adapted quickly. Delay is added via the mobile app, which also offers more precise settings. The Bluetooth connection lets you stream an audio track to the guitar, useful for working or playing along with an accompaniment. The built-in looper adds an extra dimension for stacking phrases or structuring an idea without external hardware.
The luthiery is based on a solid Sitka spruce top combined with mahogany back and sides, a choice that favours overall balance and good definition. The concert format brings out the mid-range and the precision of the playing, while the cutaway facilitates access to the upper registers.
The SandBurst finish provides a stronger visual identity, while retaining the sober, functional spirit of the series. Together, they form a coherent instrument, designed for playing, experimenting and working without technical constraints.
