The Akai MPK Mini Plus is a master keyboard that doesn't like to do things by halves. With its 37 Gen 2 keys, integrated transport controls and intuitive performance modes (Scales and Chords), it quickly becomes a formidable playing companion. Special mention must go to its two-track polyphonic step sequencer: 64 steps ready to capture your wildest ideas, or your most sober ones if you're the serious type. No judgement.
Add to that velocity-sensitive RGB pads, 360° rotary encoders, a fully customisable arpeggiator, and a programmable MIDI joystick, and you've got a keyboard that looks like it ate an orbital control centre for breakfast. Compatible with Mac/PC and standalone MPCs, it proudly displays its MIDI In/Out, CV Gate, Clock and sustain input ports. In short, the MPK Mini Plus may only be 'Mini' in name, but it's a conductor at ease in any configuration, from jogging beatmaking to calibrated live techno.
As a complement, Native Instruments' Komplete 15 Standard Upgrade injects your setup with a dizzying collection of over 95 instruments and effects, 50,000 sounds, and around fifty expansion packs. We're talking about Kontakt 8, Guitar Rig 7 Pro, Massive X, and Ozone 11 here: modernised classics, brilliant new features, and even a few sound bugs from secret laboratories. Installation is via Native Access, and once up and running, your biggest problem will be choosing between 12 pianos, 18 synths or 7 virtual drums to get you started.
The whole thing benefits from NKS integration, guaranteeing seamless navigation between Akai hardware and Native Instruments instruments.
