The XR20 is a drum coupled with a bass line with ergonomics unavoidable outcome MPC.
It was the Akai sampling technology which ensured the soundness of the company and the S900 sampler was a huge worldwide hit when it came out because it provided exactly the instrument that people wanted to price. Therefore the S900 has changed the way musicians work today, and the name has become synonymous with Akai Sampling.

In 1988, Akai Digital was created to launch the DR1200 "A-DAM" multi-track digital recorder. It was followed by the innovative DD1000, the first magneto-optical recorder, and then the DD1500, multitrack DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) designed specifically for post-production of films and videos. From this technology came the products such as DR8, DR16 and the other multi-pistes.Akai Professional recorders introduced many unique and innovative products in the world of sampling, synthesis and digital recording. Many (like the legendary samplers S series, or MPC series) that have become industry standards in all professional studios and home studios or on tour around the world. Akai Professional continues to wear the colors of true expressive electronic music with the development of technology EWI (Electronic Wind Instrument) .From addition, Akai Digital post-production equipment is used daily for movies, videos and DVDs (and it often happens that our musical instruments are also used in the soundtrack!).

In 1999, the company Akai Professional Musical Instruments Corporation (APMI) was born. Since then, the company has continued to innovate with products like:

The Z4 and Z8: the first samplers to 24 bit / 96 kHz.
The DPS24: the first (and only) digital studio 24 tracks, 24 bit / 96 kHz without data compression.
The MPD16, the first MIDI / USB control pad.
The MPC1000: a music production at low prices brings the concept of the MPC on a larger market
