Presentation
The Qu-7D marks a new stage in Allen & Heath's Qu range, incorporating 96 kHz XCVI technology for uncompromising sonic precision. With 38 inputs to 24 outputs, it is capable of handling complex situations with fluidity, whether in live performance, broadcast or fixed installation. Its design retains the visual cues of the Qu series while incorporating much-improved hardware.
The console stands out for its 33 motorised 100mm faders spread over four fully customisable layers, offering fast, intuitive control over channels, mixes and effects. Each slice now features a backlit display, a chromatic vumeter and PAFL, Mute and Select buttons, for immediate playback and smooth navigation, even in low-light conditions.
The 7-inch capacitive touchscreen has been redesigned to provide faster access to a clear, modern and responsive interface. With its 8 assignable SoftKeys and advanced scene management (up to 300 memories), the Qu-7D offers real ease of use live, thanks in particular to assistants such as the Gain Assistant and Feedback Assistant, designed to automate repetitive tasks.
In terms of connectivity, the Qu-7D features a 16x16 Dante interface (48 or 96 kHz) on a lockable EtherCon port, making it easy to integrate into professional audio networks. It also has 32 XLR/Jack combo mic/line inputs, 20 XLR outputs, two stereo line inputs and a SLink port (128x128) for connecting racks or other Allen & Heath consoles.
In terms of recording, the console features a 32x32 USB-C audio interface, a USB-A port for stereo, and an SD multitrack recorder (up to 32 tracks at 48 kHz). Whether you're recording in the studio or capturing a live performance, the Qu-7D offers a number of effortless configuration options, with high-quality AD/DA conversion and latency of less than 0.7 ms.
Finally, DEEP Processing compatibility means that processing models from dLive consoles can be added directly to the slices, with no added latency. The mixer also features a 32-channel AMM, six internal effects engines, an RTA analysis section, and can be remotely controlled via free applications compatible with Mac, Windows, iOS and Android.
