The Audio-Technica ATH-M20x White headphones are designed specifically for audio monitoring, making them ideal for use in studios, home studios, DJing and content creation. Their closed-back design allows you to work with focused listening in a variety of environments.
Its circumaural design completely encloses the ears to enhance sound isolation, a feature that is particularly useful when there are competing sound sources in the environment. This design also makes it easier to work in a home studio, where separating the audio signal from ambient noise can help maintain focused listening.
The 40 mm dynamic drivers reproduce the audio signal, featuring neodymium magnets and aluminium-coated copper voice coils. Their calibration prioritises an enhanced response in the low frequencies, which is suitable for monitoring and mixing when bass elements need to remain clearly distinguishable within the overall soundscape.
The 15° swivelling ear cups offer useful flexibility for DJing and occasional monitoring of the surroundings. This swivel mechanism allows you to quickly expose one ear, without removing the headphones completely, so that you can continue to hear part of the audio programme.
The 3-metre single-sided cable provides sufficient length to connect the studio headphones to an audio interface, a mixing desk or another compatible source. This arrangement also minimises clutter around the listening station and facilitates movement whilst working with audio. Whether for a fixed installation or a more flexible creative space, this length provides ample clearance between the headphones and the connected equipment, with simpler cable management than a connection coming from either side of the ear cups – thereby avoiding a few knots worthy of a knot-tying competition.
