The Dimarzio UtoPIA Bridge DP289FSGPK pickup isn't just a mic for Steve Vai fans. Above all, it's an excellent way of softening a guitar that's a little too shrill without losing energy. That's what it's designed to do: rebalance frequencies, give more body and control.
The DiMarzio Evolution is a powerful, aggressive humbucker pickup, originally designed for Steve Vai and his Ibanez JEM guitars. Thanks to its patented dual-resonance configuration, it delivers a wealth of harmonics and great definition.
Based on the Evolution Bridge, DiMarzio has given it a thorough overhaul. The bottom end of the spectrum has been strengthened, for a more solid foundation. The highs are thicker, which avoids sharp tones. And the midrange is calmed just enough to keep the attack musical.
The overall sound is dense and expressive, but never aggressive. In split mode, it offers a different palette, lighter and clearer. Combined with the UtoPIA Middle model, it becomes formidable.
