The Seymour Duncan Mustaine Thrash Factor Zebra pickup set replicates the configuration used by Dave Mustaine during the recording of *Rust In Peace*. At that time, the guitarist was using, amongst other things, a guitar fitted with a JB at the bridge and a ’59 at the neck. The distinctive tone achieved with this pairing subsequently led to a collaboration with Seymour Duncan to recreate this sonic character, featuring tighter bass, hollowed-out mids and more aggressive trebles.

Presentation
The Seymour Duncan Mustaine Thrash Factor Zebra pickup set is designed for guitarists who want to recapture some of the tone associated with Dave Mustaine and the album *Rust In Peace*. The history of this set dates back to the recording sessions during which the guitarist played a guitar fitted with a JB at the bridge and a ’59 at the neck. Dave Mustaine and Seymour Duncan sought to reproduce the distinctive tone achieved with this setup, particularly that combination of tight bass, hollow mid-range and more aggressive treble.
The Thrash Factor is fitted at the bridge and gives the rhythm parts a very distinctive character. The bass remains firm and precise, whilst the treble adds more bite to the attack. This sound is particularly well-suited to fast riffs and distorted chords, with enough definition to distinguish the individual notes when the playing becomes dense. Palm-mutes also benefit from a more punchy response.
Its high output level provides plenty of power for metal genres, whilst retaining the qualities of a passive pickup. The dynamics of your playing remain intact: the attack on the strings can thus alter the character of the sound rather than producing a uniform response. This precision is also beneficial for solos, which retain their clarity as the distortion builds.
On the neck, the SH-1n ’59 Model adds a second voice to the set. This combination allows you to switch from a very incisive bridge position to a different tone on the neck, with greater musicality for melodic passages and solos. The two pickups thus form a coherent pair, capable of handling both the characteristic rhythms of thrash and more nuanced passages.
The Zebra finish completes this configuration with a distinctive look, particularly suited to rock and metal-oriented guitars. You therefore have a set of two passive humbuckers that combine a striking aesthetic with a tone signature developed around Dave Mustaine, prioritising attack, power and definition.
