The EMG 40P5 gives owners of 5-string soapbar basses the sonic signature of a Precision pickup, with the benefits of an active circuit. It retains the spirit of the classic P pickup, but with better transient definition and a more solid bottom end, thanks to ceramic magnets and short, wide coils.
It's a particularly interesting pickup for modernising a bass while retaining a familiar character. It handles heavy playing perfectly, is very quiet, and remains faithful to the nuances of playing, even in the extended low registers.
