The EMG 40PX-BLK is a pickup designed to bring body, clarity and responsiveness to 5/6-string basses. With its extended format and inverted split-coil wiring, it produces a punchy, well-articulated signal with no loss of definition. This particular positioning of the magnets enhances midrange attack and treble presence, making it an excellent choice for groovy playing, cutting-edge rock or even technical lines in more modern registers.
The heart of this microphone is the X Series preamp: it amplifies the signal while leaving room for the natural dynamics of your playing. The result: a better response to attacks, more control over nuances, and always a clean sounding background. This model is designed for 6-string basses with narrow string spacing (3.25" max) and a 4.0" soapbar cavity.
Compared with other P pickups, the 40PX provides more definition and a crisper response, while retaining that warm, familiar grain. What's more, it's solderless, making installation quick and easy.
