The EMG 57-8H Black Chrome pickup is for 8-string guitarists who want to stay in control, even under pressure. Placed in the bridge, it develops a dry attack, structured around an active Alnico V magnet.
Its voicing pays homage to PAF pickups, but without compression. The signal remains legible, even in low tuning. At 2.11 kHz centre frequency, the sound remains sharp, even in palm mute. With 3 conductors and an output voltage of 4.5 V, it responds without saturation.
The solderless EMG system makes installation easy. All the cables are supplied, as are the potentiometers for the active electronics. No soldering iron required.
The microphone consumes very little power (160 µA), and runs for over 1,500 hours on battery power. It accepts up to 27V for those who like to push their circuits. Its format fits into any standard 8-string cavity. The black cover adds a touch of chic for those with a weakness for looks.
