The EMG 85-7XH has been designed to meet the needs of 7-string guitarists who like to vary their techniques: fast shredding, heavy strumming or palm mute riffs.
Its Alnico V magnets produce a warm grain that remains precise, even over forcefully plucked chords. Coupled with the X Series preamp, this pickup retains a good dynamic reserve, ideal for drop-tuning without losing clarity.
Set up in the neck position, it favours fluid, singing solos, with rich sustain and round mid-range tones that give body to the notes. In the bridge position, it becomes more incisive and precise, ideal for biting rhythms, strong palm mute riffs or more aggressive passages.
The 9 V power supply (or up to 27 V) guarantees hours of playing time, and the solderless wiring means it can be fitted quickly, without the need for a soldering iron. It's easy to integrate into a guitar already fitted with EMG pickups, or into a new configuration.
