The EMG 81-8 is an active humbucker designed for guitarists playing eight-string instruments. It is renowned for its ability to deliver a clear, powerful sound, particularly suited to musical styles that require a lot of distortion. Its ceramic magnets and tightly wound coils deliver incisive highs and extended sustain, making it ideal for solos and riffs.
This pickup is often used in the bridge position, but it can also be combined with other EMG pickups to create specific sounds. For example, the 81-8/808 combination produces an aggressive, powerful sound, while the 81-8/60-8 combination is more versatile and suits different playing styles.
The EMG 81-8 stands out for its ability to cut through the mix so that every note is well defined. Its solderless cabling system makes it easy to install and allows you to change pickups quickly if necessary.
