This EMG 81X Black Chrome X Series pickup isn't limited to extreme styles: it's just as convincing for alternative rock and more nuanced compositions. Its dual-coil design and X Series preamp guarantee a fine balance between power and sensitivity. Often used in bridge position for punchy leads, it can also be mounted in neck position for an aggressive sound.
When strumming, it delivers full, defined chords; when fingerpicking a solo, it responds to the slightest variation in attack. The VLPF, discreet but effective, refines the top end of the spectrum to avoid an overly bright sound, especially with effects such as delay or chorus.
It adapts well to standard-tuned guitars, but retains a nice clarity if you drop a tone for more roundness. It's ideal for creating dynamic contrasts between quiet verses and powerful choruses.
