The EMG 81X X Series is designed for players of metal, shred and modern styles where precision is paramount. Placed in the bridge, it reveals its full potential: tight palm-muted riffs, soaring harmonics and ultra-defined fast solos. The ceramic and steel magnets give it a clean attack and almost liquid sustain, ideal for piercing through a dense mix.
The X Series preamp adds headroom and improved dynamic response, so you can play more expressively, even when saturated. In addition, the active VLPF control helps to tame the treble as needed, without losing the clarity of the notes.
For fans of big, down-tuned riffs, the 81X retains excellent definition, even with lower tunings. Easy to assemble thanks to the Solderless system, it can be combined with an EMG 85X or 60X for a complete, versatile set.
