With the 85-7, EMG offers a 7-string version of one of its most popular pickups. This active model in Soapbar format is designed to deliver a precise, well-articulated sound without extraneous noise or excessive saturation.
Its Alnico V magnets and dual coils produce a rich low end, plenty of bite in the midrange, and enough openness in the treble to keep each note distinct, even in dense chords.
This pickup works just as well on heavy rhythms as on clear arpeggios or solos. It adapts easily to different playing styles. It can be placed in either neck or bridge position, depending on the sound you want to achieve. It's also compatible with SPC, EXG or RPC modules, for those who want to fine-tune their sound even further without changing pickups.
The 85-7 comes complete with all the hardware needed for seamless installation, including potentiometers, cables, jack and splitter. This plug-and-play system is ideal for those who want to avoid technical complications.
