The EMG 85-7X has been designed for 7-string guitarists who like to explore a range of styles, from velvety blues to dense metal riffs.
With its Alnico V magnets and X Series preamp, it delivers a fluid attack and natural sustain. In the neck position, it lets you work out detailed arpeggios and expressive solos without extraneous noise. In the bridge position, it has more bite for heavy, defined rhythms, while remaining natural.
Thanks to the solderless system, installation is hassle-free and leaves the door open to other EMG configurations. The built-in VLPF adjusts the brightness from bright and clear to dark and muted. Its balanced response across all strings ensures that every note, even on the lowest string, remains legible in a dense mix.
It's a pickup that can be played equally well on modern jazz, fusion and metal riffs, where clarity counts as much as power.
