The EMG 85-8 Ivory humbucker is an active pickup designed for 8-string guitars, with a powerful, clear sound full of character. It's based on the EMG 85 model, but redesigned for the needs of extended-range instruments. Thanks to its Alnico V magnets and compact design, it delivers an expressive sound that's always precise, whether played clean or overdriven.

This pickup stands out for its ability to produce a warm, dynamic and precise signal, whether played clean or overdriven. Whether you're playing dense chords, heavy riffs or expressive solos, the 85-8 provides excellent tonal balance, with firm bass and highs that are present without being aggressive. It works equally well in neck or bridge position, making it a versatile choice for different styles of playing and music.

This humbucker pickup produces a powerful signal, capable of reaching up to 4.5 volts during intense rhythmic playing. This high output level makes it easy to saturate a tube amp or retain a large dynamic reserve. Despite this strength, the microphone remains extremely quiet thanks to an excellent signal-to-noise ratio of -101 dB. The result is a clear, precise sound, free from hiss and noise, even with high gain or distortion.

It is compatible with all EMG accessories (SPC, EXG, RPC, VLPF) and with all other EMG microphones.
