The EMG 85-8H is a dual-coil active humbucker developed specifically for eight-string guitars. It features narrow-aperture coils combined with Alnico V magnets, a combination that produces deep bass and clear treble.
This pickup delivers a strong, clean signal thanks to its high output. It remains silent, with a very low signal-to-noise ratio. Its usefulness is not limited to the most aggressive genres. The sweetness and character of its solo tones make it ideally suited to styles such as blues, fusion and jazz-rock, where melodic expression and harmonic richness are paramount.
Its appropriate impedance makes it easy to use with any type of amp, pedal or interface. EMG's solderless wiring system simplifies integration and remains compatible with other EMG pickups and accessories. It operates from 9 V to 27 V DC and consumes just 80 µA at 9 V. This ensures a battery life of up to 3,000 hours.
