With its inverted coils, the EMG 89XR mic offers a bright Strat single-coil sound and a rich, defined humbucker. Alnico V magnets and X Series preamps ensure a precise, natural sound, with a good balance between bass, midrange and treble. Every note is heard clearly, without distortion or loss of detail. Switching between modes is done by a push-pull potentiometer.

The EMG 89XR stands out for its inverted coils, which place the single coil on the neck side, giving you that clear, brilliant grain that Strat fans love.
In humbucker mode, it develops a warm, edgy sound, ideal for powerful rock, strong riffs or even moderate metal. When you activate the single-coil mode with the push-pull, the sound becomes more airy and precise, perfect for funk parts, softer blues solos or jazzy chords.
Its X Series preamp adds extra dynamics without making the sound aggressive or artificial. In the neck position, you get clarity and a well-defined attack, while in the bridge position, the humbucker adds density and presence.
