Presentation
The EMG H4A is a passive humbucker with a modern take on vintage pickups. It uses Alnico V magnets combined with a vintage winding to produce a warm, dense and responsive sound. Even when using effects such as overdrive, delay or a heavily saturated amp, the EMG H4A retains good articulation: each note remains distinct, without drooling, and the nuances of playing are always perceptible.
It works particularly well in the neck position, where you're looking for mellowness, fullness and a certain roundness. It lends itself to a wide range of styles, from expressive blues and old-school rock to jazz-rock and melodic metal.
It's often combined with an EMG H4 in bridge position to play off the contrasts between the Alnico of the H4A and the ceramic of the H4. The H4A is also easy to assemble, thanks to the solderless system supplied and its complete wiring kit.
